Squares from Australia.

Hello Every one!

I  hope you all had a nice weekend. You certainly kept me busy on Saturday! Thank you for all the beautiful Squares!

Today I received Squares from Jen in Australia. Please pop over to her blog and say hello. Thank you so much Jen for the three beautiful Squares.

The first one is the Jan Eaton Square.  Now this is No. 48 and it's called 'Danish Square'.  I think this has got to be one of my favourite Jan Eaton Squares. It's come up really lovely and I really like the colours you've chosen to make the Square Jen, thank you for sending them from 'down under!'.

Here's Jan Eaton  No. 48 'Danish Square'.

Jen has taken part in our Jan Eaton Challenge. This is No. 48 'Danish Square'. Nice pattern don't you think? Thanks so much Jen all so pretty!

I've made a Slide Show including the 'Circle of Friends' Square Jen, thank you! Enjoy!

Well what a wonderful morning I've had taking photos of your beautiful Squares and making the Slide Shows for you! It's my pleasure, I enjoy doing it for you.

From the mail that I get it seems to me that everyone gets such a lot of inspiration from over on Flickr but most importantly our SIBOL web-site!  The enjoyment of visiting SIBOL is that virtually every day there are new Squares to be seen. We get ideas from others which is really nice.

Please check out

Flickr photos
Our Flickr (SIBOL Group)
SIBOL - The Archive
SIBOL Challenges

and of course now we are on Ravelry.  I would like to get some new topics going on over there if anyone has new ideas. Aishwarya very kindly has loaded all the 'Sunshine Blankets' on to one of the pages, and every day she loads up new Squares arriving. She is visiting her Mother at the moment, but she will put the latest ones on when she gets back. Thank you Aishwarya.

Sign up and join our Ravelry Group over there or why not join Flickr if you haven't already.

OOh, I've just remembered to say.

Would anyone like to 'team blog' with us?
You can team blog about anything to do with SIBOL.
So you may just be telling us how you found SIBOL, or maybe you'd like to tell us how you started Crocheting.  Perhaps you have made Squares for SIBOL and would like to take a photo your end before they leave you. You are most welcome to write about them and post a photo.
So write about anything to do with SIBOL only please.

On SIBOL - The Archive. Once again you can 'team blog' with us. Would you like to share that special pattern you used for SIBOL Squares? It would be nice to get some new Squares on the web-site over there and of course see what's already loaded on.

To 'team blog' with us you will need an invitation. So please email me sueatpigsty@talktalk.net
and I will send one to you.

Oh well, I'm finally off to my Mothers. Have a nice afternoon everyone and thank you all so much for the continued support!

SIBOLETTES CONGRATULATIONS!

Good Afternoon Everyone!

It's so....cold here in the UK today....I'm freezing!  But I just popped out to the supermarket to see if the 'Let's Get Crafting!' magazine had hit the shelves and guess what!!!!!!

Yes, we've hit a mag again! OOh, I'm so excited.......

After I had delivered our 44 'Sunshine Blankets' to Nursing Homes in the UK. I wrote up to a couple of magazines, and I'm very happy to say......That SIBOL has been featured!

I wrote up to 'The Write Stuff' to see if my letter would be the 'Star Letter' winning £50 worth of Hobby Craft vouchers.  Well I didn't quite make the 'Star Letter' nevermind but .......we've  had our SIBOL Letter printed and that's really important, isn't it?

When Mr. Twins comes home I'll ask him to scan the page (I don't know how with this new computer upstairs) and then I will show it to you! Not a good picture here, sorry.

Thank you all! The Blanket featured was 'Strawberry Fields'.
It's made my day.....Thank you SIBOLETTES.

No Squares today.....

Have a good weekend everyone!

Squares from UK and the USA!

Good Afternoon Everyone!

Thank you for visiting SIBOL today!

First of all may I thank you all for your comments, whether it be on the last Sunshine Blanket or indeed on the beautiful Squares we are getting through for SIBOL.  It's very nice of you to take the time to comment.

                                                               -------------------

Secondly, some advice from  Katherine  (UK).  She is sending some Squares to me for the first time and thought you might like to know the following.......... I'm sure she won't mind I've 'copied and  pasted' her advice.

"I had folded the squares up in a small padded envelope, but discovered from the post office assistant if I had left them flat in an A5 envelope which would have gone through the letterbox it would have been 66p, but as it ended up bulky it was £1.17. Not sure if this will be of interest to other ladies in the group. The package has to be 100grms or less. My 6 squares and padded envelope weighed 97grms, so although the weight  was no different,  the envelope was bulky because I had folded them in half, therefore costing more to send.

I will of course make sure I do what the assistant suggested next time."

Thanks so much for this Katherine. This is a really good idea. I do from time to time get Squares which have been folded and it will definitely work out cheaper if it's done this way. Many thanks.

                                                            ------------------------------

Beautiful Green Squares TGB, great patterns. I love them. Thank You!

Thanks so much for making the Squares Kate I know you have been very busy with your own Circles!

I also had some Squares sent in from 'The Girl' (UK)  'The Girl' very kindly wrote us a team blog post, I do hope you will pop back and read what she wrote. She has found that making the Squares has helped her take her mind off a few things. 'That's SIBOL for you!'.

The Girl (UK) Your Squares have arrived! Thanks so much!

She's making the Granny Squares into Blankets for those effected by the floods.  Thank you.

Then if you still have spare yarn, why not pop over to http://thiseclecticlife.com/share-a-square-2010-faq/ and help those Children with Cancer in the USA.

Saturday Squares from the USA and the UK!

Hello Everyone!

I'm late posting today.......I've been out doing a little 'retail therapy' with Little Miss Twins. She just had to have another dress for her clubbing tonight! When I came back there were two boxes on my Kitchen table. One from the UK and the other from the USA.

I quickly had to go into the Conservatory to take some photographs before I lost the light, so I was a little late mailing these two Ladies to let them know their Squares had arrived.  Since then I have spent my evening putting them onto Flickr and now the SIBOL web-site.  I know for a fact you are just going to love these Squares, both sets are so.....pretty!

We have a new 'SIBOLETTE' let's  welcome GillyLilly (Flickr) I do hope you will pop over to her stream and say hello.  GillyLilly lives in the UK and it's an absolute pleasure to welcome you to our SIBOL Group. I do hope you enjoy 'the SIBOL EXPERIENCE!'

Meet 'itty bitty!'. She's gorgeous! What a surprise Thank you!

I'm going to call this adorable little piggy 'itty_bitty!' She's so cute. Thank you itty_bitty for 'the box' and everything that was in it. A donation of yarn and two little tiny weeny piggies. Such a treat and the donation of yarn will be just so useful for SIBOL.

itty_bitty has been working so.....hard for SIBOL. I couldn't believe the amount of Squares she enclosed in this box today. She's had a go with our Challenges and when you see her Squares in the Slide Show you will know what I mean.  They are all absolutely lovely.  What with GillyLillys and itty_bittys' Squares today I'm sure we'll be making some pretty nice Blankets for the Elderly.

Two Squares for our 'Young At Heart' Blanket.

Friday 21 January 2011

It's been a long time

It’s been a long time.
Too long really. Back in July 2010 I discovered SIBOL and decided to make some squares up for Mrs Twins as a way of distracting me during my breakup with my boyfriend and subsequent moving out of the flat we shared.

I swore that I would make more squares again soon but I failed miserably and before I knew it, it was 2011 and I hadn’t kept up my promise. Oh the shame.

The beginning of 2011 also coincided with some money problems that I was having and I was feeling irritatingly sorry for myself. I had no money to go out and see people, I was worrying about paying the bills and just generally whingey and annoying.

And then I remembered SIBOL. And I remembered that making those squares last time allowed me to remove myself from all my worries and just do something nice for someone-else. It’s incredibly gratifying to get out of your head sometimes.

I went for the 2-tone green granny square challenge because, well, it looked like the easiest. My crochet skills are not up to whipping up flowers and farmers to put on squares. One day though...

So thank you again to Mrs Twins for allowing me the opportunity to escape from myself for a bit and for reminding me that actually I’m really rather fortunate and that actually there are lovely people like herself out there who are doing amazing things to make people’s lives better, so I had really better pull myself together and get a grip.

There’s more about this story HERE.

Apologies for the rubbish photos but I never seem to be home during daylight at the moment!

Squares fron the UK and the USA!

Good morning to you all,

Thank you for stopping by.  I'm very pleased to be showing you these 'beautiful' Squares. They are simply lovely. They are from manda's challenges.  I do hope you will pop over to her blog and say hello. I'm sure she'll be  very happy if you visit.

Now the Squares, where do I start?  Amanda has very kindly sent me some lovely Squares for our Challenges.   Two for the Spring Blanket, a Jan Eaton Square which is No. 29. 'Bobble Stripes' I'm sure you will recognise it. Beautiful colours thank you.   Also 'Circle of Friends' Square which has come out lovely. A Floral Square and.......a Cup Cake Square.  OOh, I do  love Cup Cakes!  I'm wondering Ladies it's up to you this time.  Do you think we could fit a  Cup Cake Blanket in?  This Square from Amanda is just delightful and I'm really thinking I'd like to do one.  I'd be happy to have feedback from you. What do you think? Shall we do one?

A cup cake Square, isn't this just lovely!........ Thanks so much for all the beautiful Squares mandas' challenges!

So pretty!

I'm really thank ful to Amanda for sending me some yarn which will be lovely for the Men's Blankets, I do hope it was spare!! Very sweet of you to think of SIBOL once again.
